Ormac History

Oren MacLeanOren filled the shoes of many different roles in the industrial field across the Maritimes right out of  high school. After working with his uncle who owned MacLean Industrial in Sydney, Nova Scotia Oren got a thorough look at the industrial hardware business working successively in the warehouse, at the front counter and in the purchasing department.

One year later Oren transferred to the Saint John, New Brunswick branch in 1976. Oren credits the beginning of his knowledge to his uncle, Kenny MacLean. It was there that Oren discovered his love and passion for the industry and decided he wanted to take it a step further.

In 1985 Oren MacLean, President and Founder of ORMAC Industrial Supply, moved his family to Sussex, New Brunswick. Located centrally in the Maritimes made this an ideal location to serve customers in the Atlantic Region. With his experience from his uncle’s firm Oren proved to be valuable to Sussex and the surrounding areas selling similar items such as: rubber hoses, conveyor belts, wire rope, fittings, rollers, hydraulic assemblies, socket wrenches and other supplies needed by the mining and construction industry.

ORMAC was built on a solid foundation of believing in strong customer relations and continues to prove this each day. Starting out with only 2 employees, one seated behind a makeshift desk and the other with a handful of quarters for road side calls, ORMAC has grown into a successful business of 20 plus employees who are dedicated to providing exceptional service to each and every customer.

As we celebrate 35 years of operation, we are reminded of the changes that time has brought: new avenues of business, new technologies, new territories, new friends and lots of memories. Just as important as our staff, are the customers and suppliers that have been loyal to us since the beginning, and we would like to thank each and every one of you.
